The project for our third unit evolves around creating a 10-minute long documentary with the theme "teen spirit", which should be suitable to be transmitted online on BBC 3.
"Cinema is truth 24 times a second. Documentaries both prove and disprove the point; but the truth is their strongest weapon." - Jean-Luc Godard
For this unit we'll be working in groups of 3-4 people as a team and some up with an idea, as well as planning, researching and working together towards the final goal.
So far I have a couple of ideas which I think is suitable for the theme:
1. An old person who's doing something that is viewed upon as something only young people do, like Neal Unger a California based skateboarder in his 60's.
2. In Norway people are calling my generation "generasjon prestasjon" which translates into "generation performance" or "generation tryhard" because of all the expectations young people are getting both on a school level, appearance and social media and what it leads to on a personal level (e.g depression).
3. Old man who fought in the second world war. Talk about how it was to be a teenage soldier, fighting for the country.
4. In London you have a couple of so-called "Drag Clowns", two of them are Tutti Frutti and Tony Tits, an "experimental comedy art duo" inspired by drag, clown and tribal culture.
I'm kind of fan of all of the four ideas, but need to work on which of them will be do-able and which one would fit the requirements given best.
