On Tuesday we got back together and decided to go with my idea of doing 'Yolocaust' as I had gotten hold of the creator behind the project, Shahak Shapira, and also gotten filming permission from the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin.
In the beginning we were planning to make the documentary about Shahak Shapira's story. We later found out that he'd only be available for a 2 hours interview, which made us change the idea for the documentary quite a bit. We ended up deciding to base the documentary on 'Yolocaust' but focusing on whether or not our generation are being numb to what happened during the Holocaust.
To make the documentary more BBC3 we decided to have presenter going on a trip (similar to a Louis Theroux'/Michael Moore style) to find out if people are being numb. The presenter will start off in England where he'll be talking to experts who works at museums, teachers, students and a holocaust survivor, he will then travel to Berlin and meet up with Shahak, visit the memorial and talk with some tourists there to see if people really are being numb or not.
We also decided on what roles each of us will have in this production. I'll be the director, Gavin will be the sound operator and Simon and George W. will both be on camera since we'll be doing multi camera when filming. We decided to not put anyone as the producer as we are all doing an equal amount on the pre production work regarding finding interviewees, presenter, locations, hotel etc - the reason behind this is mainly because we have so much planning to sort out in such a limited time that we decided that it was best to divide it all between us.
We are also debiting on sending one of the crew members to Berlin before shooting to do a location reccee. This depends whether or not we feel that we have the time to before shooting.
